Thanks to the generosity of members past and present Melvin's Fund now stands at £1700.  The memorial bench for Melvin which has been purchased with the aid of the Fund is now in place in the Cruickshank Botanic Garden, The Chanonry, Old Aberdeen.  The Society has also purchased a matching bench to replace the one for Loula Solomou-Dalgarno which has been in the Garden for some 20 years.  Both benches are now sited in the area of the Sunken Garden.

 

 Melvin's Fund will also be used in the future to support the teaching of Modern Greek to adults and children, as this was so dear to Melvin's heart.

 

We have arranged to have a celebratory event in the Garden on Sunday 25 May at 2.30 pm when we can pay tribute to the huge contribution which Melvin and Loula made to the Society from its inception in 1980.  Members of Melvin's and Loula's family will be attending.  A selection of refreshments will be served during the afternoon.

 

As we need to know the numbers attending, please let us know, no later than 15 May, if you intend to be present on 25 May.
